About Us

Western K-9 Security, founded by Werner and Janet Hader, is a Lower Mainland based security company specializing in canine detection and patrol services. Western K-9 Security operates on site with Obedience Plus, boasting one of the largest security canine training centres in Western Canada. This centre provides narcotic detection and explosive detection teams, along with single and dual purpose K-9 Patrol teams.

As owner/operators of Obedience Plus Dog Training Centre, Janet and Werner bring over 35 years of canine expertise to their select canine breeding program, highly trained multi-purpose dogs and the K-9 handlers they train.

Our Explosive Detection Division is licensed with Natural Resources Canada (commercial explosives) and Controlled Goods of Canada (military explosives) to use actual training aids, which supports higher detection accuracy.

The Narcotic Detection Division services BC’s Vancouver Island, Lower Mainland and Northern Communities. We have K-9 teams readily available that are trained on real narcotic aids provided by Health Canada.

Western K-9 Security recognizes the necessary heightened level of security and the need for experienced, effective prevention and protection. In conjunction with our current role as security providers for BC Ferries, we are also focused on providing screening services for the Aviation Air Cargo industry, and other transportation providers.

Western K-9 Security is proud to have personnel that bring their expertise and experience to our company. Along with several retired K-9 police officers and retired military K9 handlers we have complemented our team with Kevin Haggerty, Air Cargo Security Specialist
